She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Smith and Jewel Tutt; her husband Arvin "Al" Thornton; and her siblings, Dude Smith, Bill Smith, Darrell Smith and Geneva Hindman.
She is survived by: her son Keith Wayne Dunn; her stepchildren, David Carter Thornton, Arvin Leon Thornton Jr. and Stephanie Elizabeth Puryear (Thornton); and her sister Anita Hale. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McWhorter Funeral Home (1074 TX-300, Gilmer, TX 75645). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Shady Grove Cemetery (10331 FM1795, Big Sandy, TX 75755).
