Betty June (Inklebarger) Wiley Obituary

Betty June Wiley, of Lubbock, ran quickly to meet her Lord and Savior, September 7th, 2021. She had a glorious reunion with her loving husband of 66 years, Raymond Harold Wiley. Betty was born May 31st, 1934, to John Robert and Billie Ray Newman Inklebarger, on the family farm in Spade, Texas. Betty was the youngest of three girls, and attended Spade schools where she excelled in academics and basketball. She also met the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Raymond H. Wiley. They were married July 25th, 1952.

Betty attended Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock, and later worked for Lamb County Tax Assessor. Raymond and Betty began their family in Summerfield, Tx, and moved to Stratford, Tx, in the early 70’s where they farmed. Betty raised 4 children, grew a Texas size garden, and went to every event her children participated in. She was also employed at First State Bank Stratford for 20 years, and a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and GA’s. Known as “MeMe” to her grandchildren, she could be counted on to cook a homemade meal, encourage all their dreams, and pray for them daily. She loved to read, play games, watch horse races, shop at Dillards, and cheer for the Red Raiders. Her quick wit, dry sense of humor, and fierce competitiveness left us all with numerous funny stories and memories to last a lifetime. Betty and Raymond retired in 2002, and moved to Lubbock. They were active members of Oakwood Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister JoAnn Zahn, and a beloved grandson Jacob Wiley.

Survivors include her 4 children: Jeff Wiley (Barbara), Jana English (Tommy), Lisa Brack (Kyle), and Lori Haight (Gregg); grandchildren: Tammi Sojack (Frank), Candace Donaghey (Chris), Garret Wiley (Tiffany), John English (Ashley), Colton English, Landon and Connor Brack, Dax, Macy, and Wiley Haight, Martin Ombok (Mykel); 10 great-grandchildren; 8 great great- grandchildren; her sister Edwina Watson of Lubbock, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. A special thank you to her caregiver Marie Harris. She would not have been able to stay at home without the love and care Marie provided.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 13th, from 6:00pm-7:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 14th, at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Abbey Chapel. For those wishing to do so, the family requests memorial contributions be made to “A Thousand Generations” at, 3911 4th St. #30058, Lubbock, Texas, 79409, or Southcrest Baptist Church TV Ministries in Lubbock, Texas.
