We announce the death of Doris Vanelle Mathews in Lubbock, Texas, who passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 95. Doris will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Nelon and Beulah Nelon; her husband Ed Mathews; her son Eddy Mathews; her sister Martha Dukes; and her grandson Jordan Nelon Brown.
She is survived by: her daughter Carolyn Brown (Steve); her grandchildren, Jeremy Brown (Sarah), Daniel Brown (Audrey), Trey Mathews (Meagan) and Tiffany Camelin (Ryan); and her great grandchildren, Jude, Olivia, Isla, Ava, Annika, Madelyn, Caleb, Emilia, Lucas, Lucy, Trystin and Talyn.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial (6025 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park (500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX 76060). A committal service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
