With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Emilio Mendez (Lubbock, Texas), born in San Angelo, Texas, who passed away on October 16, 2025 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Mendez; his granddaughter Ava Lucia; his parents, Emilio Mendez Sr. and Maria of Jesus Mendez; and his siblings, Juan Mendez, Eloisa Medina and Elida Mendoza.
He is survived by: his daughter Alejandra McWhirter (David McWhirter); his grandchildren, Lauren Mendez-McWhirter, Fox Mendez-McWhirter and Sawyer Mendez-McWhirter; and his siblings, Francisco, Alfredo, Guadalupe, Marcos, Carlos Mendez, Elena Zuniga (Mario), Elidia Ramirez (Beto) and Jesusa Mendez. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Guajardo Funeral Chapels (407 N University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415). A rosary will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church (401 Maurer Ave, Anton, TX 79313).
