In the sacred silence of farewell, Gretchwin is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Gretchwin's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Benjamin and Wilda Ivory Chamberlain Brown; her husband Phillip Dean Bates; and her brother Keith Barry Browne. She is survived by: her children, Amy Bailey of Bossier City, LA, Daniel Bates (Dallas), Robert Bates of Springfield, MO, Jay Bates (Lubbock), Duane Bates (Los Angeles) and Melissa Richling (San Diego).
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Friona Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Children's Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Road, Lubbock, TX 79403.
