With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Luola Mathers (Lubbock, Texas), born in Lonoke, Arkansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 22, 2025 at the age of 96. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Luola leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her husband Harvey Mathers; her son Donald Mathers; and her parents, Josie Bass and Giles Bass. She is survived by: her sons, Leon Mathers and Charles Mathers; her daughter-in-law Christine Mathers; and her granddaughters, Brianna Mathers, Tiffany Nakagawa, Tara Shipwash and Tabitha Bendel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sanders Funeral Home (1420 Main St, Lubbock, TX 79401). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sanders Memorial Chapel (1420 Main St, Lubbock, TX 79401). A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Monte Vista Cemetery (1590 E 1st St, Alamogordo, NM 88310).
