He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Nolan Cathey and Vinell Cathey (Nessmith); his son Michael Cathey; and his brother Kenneth Cathey. He is survived by: his son James; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Cathey of Alto; his brother Archie; his sisters-in-law, Doris Cathey of Pollok and Mary Cathey of Lufkin; his grandsons, Austin Cathey of Alto and Justin Dunn of Alto; his nephew Jimmy Cathey (Cathy) of Pollok; and his nieces, Shelia Seymore (Derek) of New Braunfels and Teresa Layton (Brian) of Pollok. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
