He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Dalton Cavanaugh and Rose Fredregill Cavanaugh; and his wife Elizabeth Ann Cavanaugh. He is survived by: his son John D. Cavanaugh; his daughter-in-law Emily of Lufkin; his grandchildren, Elise Cavanaugh of Lufkin and Eric Cavanaugh of Lufkin; his sisters, LaVoice Hammons of Houston and LaJoice McKinney of Houston; and his grandchildren, Antonio Solis, Francisco "Pancho" Rodriguez, Glenn Lindermann and Cedric Cooley.
