He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Hightower (Miller) and Flurier Hightower; his siblings, Oscar "Big O" Hightower, Charles Hightower, Robert Wayne "Bee Man" Hightower, Betty Pinner and Manda Reynolds; and his siblings-in-law, Clara Hightower, Kenneth Clegg and Robert Walker.
He is survived by: his children, Carlene "Corky" Hightower Wilkes (Robert) of Tacoma, Pollyanna Hightower Brown of Muncie, Indiana, James Hightower, Jr. of Washington, DC and Jason Hightower (Pamela) of Beaumont, Texas; his siblings, Nell Walker of Lufkin, Carrie Clegg of Lufkin, Mary Whitney of Lufkin, Delwin Hightower (Linda) of Central Heights, Windle Hightower (Donna) of Huntington and Bobby Dan Hightower (Monica) of Lufkin; and his siblings-in-law, Fran Hightower of Lufkin and Kenneth Pinner of Lufkin. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews.
