He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Nelson and Annie L. Ozian; his wife Mary Nelson; his son Kelvin Nelson; and his brothers, Charles Nelson, Lawrence Ozian, Riley Ozian and Anthony Ozian.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Yaffard Caraway, Corey Buggs (Sherry), Kametra Buggs and Louis Caraway. He is also survived by Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
