He was predeceased by: his parents, Aretta Johnson and Francis Bichrest; his stepfather Roger Allard; and his grandsons, Navy Engineman, Class and Austin T. Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Letha June Bichrest; his daughters, Cynthia Moody of Cundy's Harbor, Vida Leeman (Jerry) of Cundy's Harbor, Teresa Mann (Pat) of Brunswick, Meredith Williams (Andrew) of Freeport, Michelle Shipley (Aaron) of Lewis Center and Edith Cram (Matthew) of West Bath; and his stepchildren, Tina Johnson (Jesse) of Baytown and Jonathan Stracener (Stacey) of Cypress. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
In 2014 David and his long time Coast Guard friend, Charlie Worrell built a gun for auction for the Former Texas Ranger Foundation. They recognized his generosity and was bestowed with the honorary title of Captain in the Former Texas Ranger Foundation.
