He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hayes Mitchell Sr. and Adele Crain Mitchell; his wives, Maxine Oliver and Julie Mitchell; his grandson Colin E. Buren; his sister Aurie Mitchell West; and his son-in-law Ellery Aufdengarten.

He is survived by: his friend Marie Clarie Kyle; and his daughters, Marla Buren, Debbie Aufdengarten and Laurie Mund (Brad). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and even one great-great-granddaughter.
