He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward Dowdell and Florence Louise Stocker; his brothers, Leonard Dowdell and Dale Dowdell; and his granddaughter Lauren Nichole Allen.
He is survived by: his siblings, Larry Dowdell and Linda Dowdell Hall; his children, Cindy Dowdell Allen (Randy), Donald "Chip" Dowdell, Jr. (Amy), Billy Dowdell (Jeanne), Larie Dowdell Barnett (Blake), Kendall Dowdell (Shannon) and Scott Dowdell; and his grandchildren, Michael Dowdell, Taylor Dowdell, Deylin Dowdell, Jagger Allen, Harmony Allen Rains, Cameron Allen, Reigan Allen, Robyn Polinice, Eric Roberts, Kelsey Brown, Davis Brown, Evan Barnett, Destiny Dowdell, Hunter Dowdell, Bobby Preston and Brandy Wilson. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Downs Funeral Home (4608 Elysian Fields Rd, Marshall, TX 75672). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Woodlawn Baptist Church (8688 US-59, Marshall, TX 75670). A burial was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
