He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Lee Alexander and Cecyl Bernice McDonald Alexander; his son Larry Edward Alexander; and his siblings, J. B., Billy Carl, Cecil Lee, Donald Keith, Norma Moody, Carolyn Jones, Syble Richardson and Martha Coulter.

He is survived by: his wife Lisa Ford Alexander; his children, Lynnette Martinez (Izzy), Darlene Grooms (David), Cheryl Thomas (Martin), Kim Thomas, Nawal Hampton (Robert), Kirk Jones, Kip Jones (Lisa) and Greg Jones (Deborah); and his siblings, Jacque Kirkland and Danny Alexander (Patsy).
