He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ray Matlock and Virginia Lee Crouch Matlock; his stepfathers, Merle Ray Thomas and Raymond Whaley; and his close friends, Carroll Chapman and D. W. Robertson.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Katherine Matlock; his children, Kaitlyn Reynolds (Thomas), Monty Ray Matlock (Emily Vargas) and Maxwell Shane Matlock; his sister Tracy Matlock; and his grandchildren, Trey Reynolds and Kaylee Grace Reynolds. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home (4608 Elysian Fields Rd, Marshall, TX 75672). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
