He was predeceased by : his wife Viola Adela Contreras Hirsch; his parents, Benjamin Hirsch and Elizabeth Hirsch; and his sisters, Phyllis Devine, Rose Klandrud and Jo Bull.

He is survived by : his children, Mary, Renee Y. Hernandez, Rosanne Hirsch and Benjamin Lee Hirsch Jr.; his grandchildren, Dimitri Gamino, Damon Hernandez, Mauricio Castillo, Darian Hernandez, Adrian Castillo, Lelaini Hernandez Montemayor, Marlena Castillo and Liam Gamino; his great grandchildren, Levi Jayce Carr, Emren Hernandez, Kayden Hernandez, Kaycen Grey Hernandez, Kamyrn Hernandez, Kaylei Raine Montemayor and Madeline Rae Montemayor; and his siblings, Margaret Cox (Leon) and Joseph Hirsch.
