Miriam Karnes Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of Miriam Karnes of McAllen, Texas. Miriam, born on November 22, 1939, passed away on October 15, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Miriam for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. She was predeceased by: her husband Albert Russel Karnes Jr.; her son Albert "Rusty" Karnes; and her parents, Earl Lard and Mary Lard. She is survived by: her children, William Karnes, Julie Romanowski (Brian), Susan Best (Jerry) and Patricia Smith (Ryan). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (1108 W Hackberry Ave, McAllen, TX 78501). A burial will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery (2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McAllen Mobile Home Park (4900 N McColl Rd hall b, McAllen, TX 78504).
