With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elva Martinez of Mercedes, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 6, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leopoldo Diaz and Lilia Lopez Diaz; and her siblings, Guadalupe Diaz, Ramon Diaz and Adela Diaz.
She is survived by: her husband Heriberto Martinez; her children, Dr. Lora Perez (Daniel) and Heriberto Martinez Jr. (Mayra); her grandchildren, Shanelle Pishchanetskiy (Pavel), Herbie Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Briana Martinez, DJ Perez and Matthew Perez; her great grandchildren, Nicholas A. Pishchanetskiy, Elijah Pishchanetskiy and Katya Pishchanetskiy; and her sister Oralia Caballero (Ricardo).
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home - Mercedes (236 S Ohio Ave, Mercedes, TX 78570). A rosary was held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel (236 S Ohio Ave, Mercedes, TX 78570). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 9:30 AM and at 11:00 AM. A Mass was held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (322 S Vermont Ave, Mercedes, TX 78570-2928). A burial was held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM at the Highland Memorial Park (6705 FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596).
