He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Porter and Ethyl Porter; his siblings, Rusty, Sam Porter and Carol White; his wife Gerry Porter; and his son Dempsey "Jack" Porter.
He is survived by: his son Lee Porter (Janice); his grandsons, Chris Porter (Angela) and Gavin Porter (Kelley); and his great grandchildren, Bradey, Emiley, Hannah, Abbey, Duncan and Alexis Porter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.
