She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus McDowell and Frances McDowell; her husband Marcus Randolph McCalla, Jr.; and her sisters, Ernestine Douglas, Della Livingston and Wanda Sessions.

She is survived by: her children, Verlinda McCalla and Marcus McCalla, III of Mineola; her sisters, Faye McCann and Lola Clemons of Mineola; and her grandchildren, Marcus Garrett and Emma Brianne McCalla of Mineola. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many neighbors and friends.
