She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonardo Diaz and Ramona Rodriguez; her husband Ben S. Whatley; and her siblings, Rafaela Sotelo, Vicente Diaz and Lino Diaz.
She is survived by: her children, Gloria Rivera (Eric), Gabriel A. Whatley (Evelia), Gerardo Whatley (Iliana) and George Whatley (Jo Ann); and her brother Roman Diaz. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Rivera Funeral Home (1901 Pecan Blvd, McAllen, TX 78501). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (900 S 23rd St, McAllen, TX 78501). A burial was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Valley Memorial Gardens (3605 N Taylor Rd, Mission, TX 78572).
