He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Shaw and Minerva Mills Shaw; his wife Winnie Lucille Riddle (Sammie); his close friend Jane Dean; and his siblings, Sadie McClendon, Viola Clark, Dorothy Jordan, Charlie Roy Shaw, John Bill Shaw, Fred R. Shaw and Walter Seth Shaw.

He is survived by: his sons, Terry (Susan) of Seminole and Larry (Brenda) of Morton; and his grandchildren, Casey, Dana, Chelsea, Donya, Les and Lindsey. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
