He was predeceased by : his parents, Harold Lynn and Maxine LaRue Humphrey Gilbert; his sisters, Brenda Gilbert and Debra Walling; and his nephew Otto Charles Walling IV.

He is survived by : his sister Diana Cox (Neal) of Mount Vernon; and his nieces, Amy Briscoe (Jeff) of Mount Vernon Texas and Charlotte Walling of Mount Vernon. He is also survived by the oldest of four children, the only son.
