She was predeceased by : her parents, Mervin Wilterding and Mae Wilterding; her children, Elaine and Buddy; her husband Calvin Embry; her great grandchild Caleb; and her sisters, Maurine Hooten (Wilterding) and Luella Surguine (Wilterding).

She is survived by : her children, Aleene of Lubbock and Derrel; her daughter-in-law Kathy of Muleshoe; and her brother Reece Wilterding (Joy). She is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery, PO Box 373, Muleshoe, TX 79347 or Oneita Wagnon Senior Center, 319 S. Main St., Muleshoe, TX 79347 or the charity of your choice.

“Lona left many legacies, of which I am one. My Nan was the rarest of women, strong, kind and so very proper. I can only hope to be half the woman she was. To have eternal life one must be born again, and Nan has now been reborn and can enjoy the afterlife eternally. My parting word to her: I finally learned … to sip, not gulp! Thanks for all the things I learned from you; but, that one was my favorite because it doesn’t just apply to Coke … it applies in all things. I love you!”
