He was predeceased by: his parents, Robbye Lee Thompson Snowden and Shannon Lowell Doss; and his sister Dayna Doss Parker. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Erickson Doss; his daughter Lindsey Doss; his grandson Maxwell; his son Payton Doss (Gabby); his grandchildren, Elena of New Braunfels and Cameron of New Braunfels; and his sister Debra Doss of Plano.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund and the Texas State Baseball organization—two causes close to David's heart.
