He is survived by: his wife Martha Edwards (Salyer); his son Daniel Eugene Edwards Jr.; his stepdaughter Franna Murphy; his niece Suzy Hightower; his nephews, Jimmy Lee Edwards and Coty Wayne Edwards (Amy); his sisters, Mary Edwards, Delois Hightower, Jewel Stinson and Shirley Hobbs; his nephews, Frank and Gordon; and his brothers, Wayne Edwards and Jimmy Dale Edwards. He is also survived by five granddaughters and two grandsons; ten great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, and one great great granddaughter.
