He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Sotelo and Maria Cruz Valenzuela Cataño; his stepfather Juan Cataño; and his siblings, Samuel Sotelo, Maria Levario, Guadalupe Sotelo and Ruben Cataño.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Elena Sotelo; his children, Maria Jose Sotelo (Roberto Reyes), Samantha Sotelo, Juan Sotelo (Jennifer) and Francisco Sotelo; his grandchildren, Ezekiel Reyes, Zoey Creech, Mia Sotelo and Noah Sotelo; and his siblings, Cecilia Rodriguez (George), Herman Sotelo (Teresa) and Juan Cataño Jr. (Sandra).
