It is with great sadness that we announce the death of May Bell Brown of Odessa, Texas, who passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bill Swinney and Carrie Mae Swinney; her brother Alvah Swinney; and her son John Murray Brown. She is survived by: her husband James Archie Brown; her children, Martha Stoute (Barry) of Odessa, TX and Jim Brown (Julie) of Odessa, TX; her daughter-in-law Melinda Brown-Haynes (Morse) of Midland, TX.; and her grandchildren, Shane Chamlee (Jace) of San Antonio, TX, Melissa Pruitt of Tyler, TX, Brit Chamlee (Laura) of Flint, TX, Christopher Chamlee (Brittney) of Odessa, TX, Jenica Maroney (Justin) of Tolar, TX, Julie Davidson (Garrett) of San Angelo, TX, Tiffany Tubb (Joey) of Magnolia, TX, Jason Stoute of Odessa, TX, Alisha Brown of Ft. Worth, TX, Amy Harper (Bryce) of Odessa, TX, Janae Beauchamp (Daniel) of China Springs, TX, Morgan Lynch (Cyle) of Grandfalls, TX and Chad Matlock (Kenessa) of Harper, TX.. She is also survived by grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many granddogs.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Asbury Methodist Church (4001 E University Blvd, Odessa, TX 79762).
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in May Bell's name to Asbury Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
