Richard H. Smith Obituary
Richard Herbert Smith, age 74, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Richard was born January 4, 1944, in Omaha, Texas, to Boss Hubbard Smith and Allie Marie Talley Smith. Richard was a member at First United Methodist Church in Omaha. He retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of service.
He enjoyed auto mechanics, watching Texas Rangers baseball, and travelling. He especially enjoyed visiting Civil War sites. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Smith, in 1990; his parents; two brothers, David Smith and Willard Smith; and two sisters, Nancy Trimble and Betty Wagner. Survivors include two sons, Chris Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Michael Smith of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Yona Starnes of Texarkana, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Marie Smith of Commerce, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Hampton of Naples, and Cynthia and Ray Owens of Rockwall, Texas; two grandchildren, Decen Starnes and Kaylyn Starnes; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha with Bro. Ray Richey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Omaha Cemetery Association.
