He is survived by: his wife Annette Hudson-Phillips; his sister Arlla Nafegar (Bill); his children, Clay Phillips (Cassie), Melissa Keys (Darwin) and Brandon Phillips; his grandchildren, Brady Phillips and Violet Phillips; his stepchildren, Tina Estes (Chad) and C. L. Hudson (Amy); and his stepgrandchildren, Abby Hudson, Caleb Hudson, Kate Estes and Ellie Estes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Garner State Park or to the V.A. in Charles' honor.
