We announce the death of Douglas Joseph Venable Sr. of Orange, Texas, who passed away on October 15, 2026, at the age of 91. Douglas will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, A. B. Venable and Gladys St. Germain Venable; his wife Sue Venable; his grandson Joshua White; his stepson Danny Tarbutton; and his nephews, Todd Lindsey and Chad Lindsey.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Guess (Barry), Lisa Nelms, Douglas Venable, Jr. (Heidi), Charles Venable (Leslie) and Chris Frauenberger Venable; his stepchildren, Jackie White, Leon Michael Wallace and Karen Foght; his grandchildren, McKay Nelms, Cassidy Venable, Oliver Venable-Rose, Willow Venable-Rose (Aaron), Gwynith Venable-Rose, James Tarbutton (Micah), Amity Griffith (Howard) of Gracie Frauenberger, J. D, Ryan Ramsey, Sydney Moreno (Matt) and Jenna White; his great grandchildren, Jamey Tarbutton, Arwen Tarbutton, Avery Tohill, Tristan Tohill and Aurora Griffith; his sister Jeanette Burleson; his daughter-in-law Felicia Tarbutton; his nephew Gerald Lindsey, Jr.; and his niece Charlean Lindsey. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Claybar Funeral Home - Orange (504 5th St, Orange, TX 77630, USA).
