He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Monroe Oates and Polly Barker Oates; and his siblings, Jimmy T. Oates and Betty Oates Tims. He is survived by: his spouse Lepha Brumley Oates; and his brother Gary Wayne Oates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family members, and countless dear friends.
