He was predeceased by: his sister Imogene Neal. He is survived by: his brother Darrell Simmons of Panhandle; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Niva McGowan, Lydia Ross and Curtis Ross.
Gwendol was a longstanding deacon at the First Baptist Church in Borger and Panhandle, where he made significant contributions to the spiritual life of those around him.
