He is survived by: his wife Carol Castleman; his children, Karen Frazier (Duane), Leslie, Stephanie Staggs (Duane) and April Slaten (John); and his siblings, Jimmy Fortner (Jean), Jerry Fortner, Kelvin Fortner (Lebeth) and Olivia McWilliams (Ron). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
