He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Ralph Akard Jr. and Lois Dickerson Akard; his brother Mike Akard; and the mother of his children Teri Skidmore. He is survived by: his children, Jason Wesley Akard (Anna) and Amanda Suzanne Young (BJ); his grandchildren, Ryan Elizabeth Akard, Cameron Kate Akard, Logan Brooke Akard, Trysten Levi Maynard, Alyssa Brooke Parker and Aubree Claire Parker; his great grandchild John Michael Collins; his grandson Trevor Young; his great grandchild Grayson Cole Young; and his sisters, Jeri Janelle Quarles and Jo Akard Skabo.
