He was predeceased by: his daughters, Connie Gibson McCants, Debbie Gibson Burt and Peggy Gibson Clark; his parents, Mattie Ola Murphey and Hugh Amos Gibson; and his siblings, Charles Gibson, James Earl Gibson, Hubert Gibson and Marie Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Vernna Barnes Gibson; his children, Patricia Gibson Massey and Larry Gibson (Pam); and his sister Dorothy Vinson (Charles). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
