He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, E. J. Cothran and Jessie Johnson; his wife Gwendolyn Virginia Golden; and his children, Troy, Gayle and Clay.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Parkgate Community Church (3715 Preston Ave, Pasadena, TX 77505). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
