He is survived by: his parent Jerry Akins; his son Matthew Akins; his brother Rod Rodriguez; his half-sisters, Calli Gruber and Julie Benjamin; his nephews, Jordan, Joshua, Platte, Jacob, Adam, Christopher and Aaron; and his aunts and uncles, Genny Sharp, Virginia Lopez, Dan, Minnie Lopez, Esther Shepherd, Robert Ramirez, Margie Ramirez, Eva Akins, Joe Ramirez and Eileen McBride.
