He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Eldridge and Carey Jeanette Smith Thompson of Pennington; and his siblings, Freda Thompson, Mary Thompson Doyle and Dan Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Joy Thompson; his children, Kevin Thompson (Monica Hensley) and Kelly Thompson Sullivan (Dane Sullivan); his brother Marvin; his siblings-in-law, Peggy Thompson of Friday, Dorothy Thompson of Flat Prairie, Linda Stafford of Bryan, Gail (Phillip Wilhelm) of Pennsylvania and William (Bertha Doyle) of Friday; his grandchildren, John Thompson (Shelby) of Corrigan, Shelby, Jacob Torres of Orange, Kelsey, Wyatt Schoaf of Hillsboro, Katie Thompson (Gavin Baker) of Frisco, Cole Sullivan of Flat Prairie and Jack Cutter Sullivan of Flat Prairie; and his great grandchildren, Ellie Mae Thompson, Lyla Rae Thompson, Jack Connor Schoaf and Bella Torres. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.
