Bill LaFont Obituary

We announce the death of Bill LaFont (Plainview, Texas), who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 86. Bill will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Bill will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Bill will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Bill’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Judge Harold Matthew LaFont and Jane Powell LaFont; and his sister Gail LaFont Huie. He is survived by: his wife Peggy LaFont; his children, Emily LaFont of Lubbock, Chris Chapman of Dallas, Christopher LaFont of Sterling and Matt LaFont of Richmond, Virginia.; Ellie LaFont and Nicole Steffe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances be made to Plainview High School's "Ellie/Heather Scholarship Fund".
