He was predeceased by: his mother Zhenhui Mo; and his sister Bo Feng. He is survived by: his wife Jean Liu; his daughters, Lisa Feng and Katie Feng; and his father Wenquan Feng.
In 1989, he received a Ford Foundation scholarship, which provided him the opportunity to pursue his PhD in the United States.
