He was predeceased by : his parents, Buster Hurst and Louise Logan Hurst; his former life partner Janice Rutledge; his wife June McKeehan; and his son Max Hurst.

He is survived by : his daughters, Jana Hurst Cox (Gary) of Dallas, TX and Julie Hurst Malcolm (Steve) of Santa Fe, NM; his grandchildren, Ian Lash, Joshua Clapp, Ryan Cox and Julian Bailey Hurst; his stepchildren, Mark McKeehan (Heather) of Flower Mound, TX and Robin McKeehan Mullenix (Tommy) of Flower Mound, TX; and his grandchildren, Corey McKeehan, Christopher McKeehan, Dylan Mullenix and Dayani Mullennix. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Memorial Park (5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606). A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home (7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225).
