He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Castillo and Marcela Castillo Sr.; his son Jose Luis Castillo, Jr. (Joe); and his siblings, Manuel Castillo Sr. (Sally), Juan Castillo (Tina), Antonio Castillo (Tony), Martin Castillo Jr. and Mary Fernandez.

He is survived by: his wife Eva Castillo (Rodriguez); his sisters-in-law, Juanita Castillo (Janie) and Soila Castillo (Paula); and his uncle Pablo Castillo, Sr.. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
