She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Louise Martin Emma and Joseph Conrad Emma II. She is survived by: her husband Curtis Johnson; her children, Joseph Riley (Kat), Gunnar Johnson (Missy) and Susan Young (Jeff); her grandchildren, Faith (Jordan), Katelyn (Joey), Elijah, Andrew and Logan; her great grandchild Charlie Kate; and her siblings, Nancy Emma Miller (Brion) and William Joseph Emma.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Melissa's honor to the American Cancer Society or to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
