He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Kons (Heimermann) and Jacob Kons Sr.; his former wife Rose Mary Perna of Reading, Pennsylvania.; his siblings, Gregory, Norman, Bernard, Merlyn, Alex, Leander, Eileen Willems van Dijk, Diane Matuszak and Kathleen Oriedo; his siblings-in-law, Livio Juliani, Mike Perna, Joseph Perna, Peter Perna, John Miller, Emil Wolff, Geradus Willems van Dijk, LeRoy Matuszak, Angela Juliani, Louise Perna, Annie Perna, Mary Miller, LaVerne Kons and Betty Kons; and also, Adrian and Catherine.

He is survived by: his wife Lucia Cunningham (Cunningham); his daughter Maria Rose Smith (Tom); his grandchildren, Patrick, Rosemary, Gabriella and Andrew J. Scholes (Lauren); his great grandchildren, Camden, Beckett and Nolan; his son Jacob F. Kons of Reno, Nevada; his stepchildren, Celeste Worley, Cathy Sangren, Austin Cunningham (BethAnn), Peter Cunningham and Mary Macejewski (Keith); his brother Gerald Kons (Jean); and his siblings-in-law, Michah Oriedo, Sharon Kons, Dorothy Kons and Marie Kons. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sparkman Funeral Home (1029 S Greenville Ave, Richardson, TX 75081). A rosary was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church (600 S Jupiter Rd, Richardson, TX 75081). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
