He was predeceased by : his parents, James McWhirter and Florine McWhirter; and his siblings, Jim McWhirter, Harold Dee McWhirter and Jerry Estell.
He is survived by : his wife Jean McWhirter; his sons, John McWhirter and Desmond McWhirter (Tara); his siblings, Don McWhirter and Sherry Johnson; and his grandchildren, Rose and Macy McWhirter.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
