She was predeceased by: her parent Oddie F. Ferrell; her husband Howard Ray Denard; her daughter Connie Denard Laughlin; her mother Mabel Ferrell Hodges; her stepfather Raymond Hodges; and her siblings, Gordon "Sonny" Ferrell and Geneva Ferrell Goff.

She is survived by: her children, Sharon Denard Johnson (Teddy) of Crawford and Mark Scoggins (Maria) of Robinson; her grandchildren, Michael Johnson (Brandi) of Crawford, Heath Laughlin of Riesel and Scharla Johnson Pogue (Cecil) of Crawford; her great grandchildren, Savanna Pogue, Tre', Mikayla Pogue, Brock Hyland (Scout Simmons), Blaine Hyland, Beryn Hyland, Bostyn Hyland, Asthon DeVoss (Kory), Preston "Stoney" Laughlin, Heath "Rooster" Laughlin, Amara Rivera and Eric Scoggins; and her great great grandchild Beckett Pogue. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Hewitt in Ernestine's honor.
