He is survived by: his wife Mary Jimenez Verastegui; his children, Norma Castaneda (Alfredo), Patricia "Patsy" Marie Hernandez (late Armando) and Joseph John Verastegui; and his grandchildren, Dr. Alfredo Castaneda Jr. (Maria "Mary" Monica), Myra Gongora (Bobby), Monica Feeley (Kevin), Joseph Verastegui Jr., Freddy Hernandez (Olivia), Alyssa Verastegui, Ricky Hernandez (Corina), Charlie Verastegui, Stephanie Hernandez, Nicholas Verastegui and Tristan Verastegui.
