It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brooks Flynt in Rockwall, Texas, born in Red Oak, Texas, who passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodie Roberson Flynt and Fannie Tabitha Brooks Flynt; his wife Betty Jo Flynt; his siblings, Harold Flynt, Mary Carter and Woody Flynt Jr.; and his great grandchild Nathan Johnston.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Flynt (Nancy) and Mark Flynt (Joan); his grandchildren, Diana Robinson (Troy), Whitney Bietendorf (Jason), Abby Patterson (Michael), Joshua Flynt and Amanda Johnston (Jimmy); his great grandchildren, Holly and Connor Robinson; and his grandchildren, Hadley, Kennedy Bietendorf, Julia, Miles Patterson, Laura and Creed Johnston.
One of Brooks' greatest contributions to Axe Memorial UMC are the stained glass windows he created for the sanctuary, narthex, and breezeway that remain a visible testimony to his love for Christ and the Church.
