Frederick Adolph Hartzke Obituary

Frederick "Fred" Adolph Hartzke, age 78 of Rockwall, Texas, passed away at his home on October 6, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Fred grew up in Farmington, Missouri. After high school, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident, during which he met the love of his life, Barbara — a student nurse who caught his eye in the hospital. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They married on January 18, 1969, and shared 56 wonderful years together.

After recovering from the accident, he became a police dispatcher and then a police officer. Prior to the birth of his first daughter, he embarked on a successful career in insurance claim management. He ultimately served as Senior Vice President of Claims at Marsh before retiring in 2009, when he was able to dedicate his time to what he loved most — his family and the great outdoors.

An avid outdoorsman, he found endless joy in fishing, hunting, and simply being in nature. Known for his gregarious spirit, he never met a stranger. He could fix just about anything and was legendary in his family for his ability to guess the contents of a gift without ever unwrapping it.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; children, Jennifer (Jean Kimpel), Cynthia (Rodney) Fenimore, Christine, and Frederick Scott; and grandchildren, Sydney, Gage, Summer, Alex, Anthony and Colton Fenimore.
